Adil Rashid Claims Top T20I Bowler Ranking, Babar Azam Reclaims ODI No.1 Spot

Cricket Buzz Today: England’s Adil Rashid has risen to the No.1 spot in the ICC T20I bowler rankings, surpassing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and India’s Ravi Bishnoi. Rashid’s impressive form in the Caribbean has earned him this coveted title just months before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This achievement makes Rashid only the second Englishman, after Graeme Swann more than a decade ago, to top the T20I bowler rankings.

The rankings have seen significant movement recently, with three different players holding the top position in the last three weeks. West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein jumped three spots to sixth, while South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi climbed three positions to ninth, creating a dynamic shift within the top 10.

In the T20I batter rankings, West Indies players made notable advances. Brandon King surged six places to rank sixth, while Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, and Kyle Mayers also improved their standings. England’s Phil Salt rose to 20th after an impressive performance in the Caribbean, but India’s Suryakumar Yadav continues to dominate the T20I batting rankings, leading by 100 points. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and South Africa’s Aiden Markram trail behind in second and third, respectively.

Markram also moved to third place in the T20I all-rounder rankings, just behind Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan. England’s Moeen Ali rose to eighth, while West Indies’ Jason Holder climbed one spot to 24th in the same category.

In the ODI rankings, Pakistan captain Babar Azam reclaimed his position as the No.1 batter, overtaking India’s Shubman Gill, who was rested during India’s ongoing series against South Africa. Ireland’s Harry Tector moved to seventh, while South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klaasen slipped slightly in the rankings following their recent performances.

The latest ICC Test rankings also saw some shakeups following Australia’s dominant win over Pakistan. Australian opener Usman Khawaja jumped three places to fourth, closing in on top-ranked Kane Williamson. Meanwhile, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh improved their rankings, with Warner climbing to 27th and Marsh to 68th.

On the bowling side, Australia’s Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood all made advances in the rankings, while India’s Ravichandran Ashwin remains the top-ranked Test bowler.
