circketbuzztoday: The International Cricket Council (ICC) imposes a ban on Srilanka’s Left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama for a year for breaching the anti-corruption code.
The left-arm spinner is not going to play any form of cricket for a year. Apart from the ban, he will remain suspended for six months as part of the ICC’s decision.
Why Jayawickrama Was Banned?
Jayawickrama admitted to violating Article 2.4.4 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. The article is related to obstructing or delaying investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), which includes concealing or tampering with relevant information.

Jayawickrama’s International Career
The left-arm orthodox spinner made his debut for Srilanka in 2022. He has played 5 test matches, 5 ODIs and 5 T20Is for Sri Lanka. In 15 international appearances, he has taken 32 wickets.
He made an impressive debut against Bangladesh in 2021 by taking 11 wickets and conceding 178 runs. It is 7th best performance by an any bowler on a test tebut.
