In a recent meeting with the PCB Chairman in Colombo, the Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman rejected the rumors of Afghanistan not participating in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Afghanistan’s confirmation to play in the event has boosted the PCB’s bid to successfully host the Champions Trophy 2025.

Earlier there were reports that due to India’s uncertain participation, Afghanistan may also not participate in the Champions Trophy 2025 to be played in Pakistan.
The rumors made rounds on media and social media after former PCB chairman Khalid Mehmood talked to the media. In an interview with a local news channel, he said that other teams including Afghanistan and Bangladesh may also not send their teams following India.
Mirwais khan said, “Our team will indeed travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025,”. Moreover, Mr. khan suggested to organise a youth Tri-series with Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
