The former pacer of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Tanveer Ahmad, has scathed the Indian Coach labeling his appointment as Parchi. Gambhir has recently been appointed as Head Coach Of India after Rahul Dravid bowed down as coach.
The former Pakistani pacer called Gautam Gambhir’s appointment Parchi and said that VVS Laxman should have been a better choice. Laxman has also acted as stand-in coach of team India in Dravid’s tenure. Currently, he is in charge of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Tanveer Ahmad thinks that Gambhir’s appointment is not on merit. He took to his official Twitter/X account, flooding his emotions, calling Gautam Gambhir’s nomination ‘Parchi’.
“VVS Laxman should have become the head coach of the Indian team because he has been with the India B team as coach for a long time. It seems as if Gautam Gambhir’s appointment is a ‘Parchi’ case,” he posted.
It seems that Tanveer Ahmad is oblivious to the Coaching experience of Gautam Gambhir who mentored the current (2024) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
It was Gambhir’s third assignment as a mentor. Earlier he had also mentored Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2022 and 2023. LSG reached playoffs in both editions respectively.
The merit is mentioned here that Gautam Gambhir has been a star performer for India in the past. In the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup finals, he was the top scorer.
