cricketbuzztoday: The ICC announcement of offering equal prize money to Men’s and Women’s winners of ICC events has been hailed well by women cricketers and coaching staff. ICC has ensured that the winners of the ICC T20 World Cup receive equal prize money regardless of gender which is a great step towards gender equality in cricket.
The teams that win individual matches in the group stages will be given USD 31,154 per win. All the Six teams eliminated in the group stages before the semifinal will get a pool of $ 1.35 million that will be shared among the teams alike.

It is a massive increase as the eliminated teams in the group stage would get $ 180,000 in 2023. $ 270,000 will be given to the teams finishing third or fourth in their group. The team finishing 5th will receive $ 135,000.
Bangladesh women’s team skippers Nigar Sultana was excited at the decision. Talking to the media she said “Money is always a great motivator. It’s a fantastic initiative by the ICC, showing their commitment to eliminating gender discrimination. This positive change in women’s cricket is also reflected in Bangladesh, giving our team hope and driving us to perform well. Achieving success now feels even more rewarding,”
Hashan Tilakaratne, Head Coach Of the Bangladesh Women’s Team, expressed his views at the ICC announcement. He said “This is a very encouraging move, and we’re grateful to the ICC. It will undoubtedly boost women’s cricket in Bangladesh and attract more young talents who can now envision a future in the sport,”
ICC has made a historic move to the delight of Cricket fans in general and women cricketers in particular. This decision has not only sparked optimism in women cricketers but will also encourage young girls worldwide to make cricket as their profession.
