A five-member ICC inspection team arrives in Karachi to Assess the Champions Trophy 2025 Preparation in Pakistan. The CT 2025 will be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.
ICC Delegation’s Four-Day Visit
Three senior members of the ICC will inspect various stadiums, practice facilities, hotels, and transport routes in three venues i.e. Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
In the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup, there were numerous complaints about poor hotel facilities by participating teams. Therefore, the ICC is ensuring that the hotel facilities are up to the mark.
key Members of the ICC delegation include:
- David Mucker, ICC Security Manager
- Chris Teley, Head Of Events
- Andy Atkinson, ICC Pitch Consultant
Pakistan’s Readiness in Question
The visit comes amidst local media reports suggesting that renovation work at the three designated venues – National Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore – is behind schedule. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident that the work will be completed on time.

“A significant upgrade of the stadiums in Karachi and Lahore is underway, and we’re committed to showcasing our venues as world-class destinations, adhering to the highest international standards,” a PCB spokesperson stated.
Budget and Schedule Approval
The ICC has approved a budget of $65 million for the eight-team global event. The PCB has submitted a draft schedule, awaiting ICC approval. The delay is largely due to uncertainty surrounding India’s participation, which may require adopting a hybrid model.
ICC Chief Executives Committee Election
In related news, Sumod Damodar has been elected to the ICC’s Chief Executives Committee (CEC), replacing Mubashir Usmani.
Damodar, who had been a member of the CEC from 2017 to 2023, emerged victorious in a three-way contest in which he received 20 votes from the 45 associate boards. Papua New Guinea’s Richard Done came close second, receiving 19 votes. Vignaesh Sankaran of Germany was a distant third.
