Cricketbuzztoday: Cricket fans around the world are excited about the upcoming IPL auction likely to take place at the end of November. Cricbuzz reported that the BCCI (Board of Control For Cricket In India) has apprised franchises about the schedule. It is possible that the auction will be held overseas like the previous year.
Auction To Be Held In The Middle East
Different news is circulating regarding the possible Venue for the IPL auction. It is in the air that like last year, Dubai is going to host the event. Besides, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia are also said to be in contention. However, it is premature to say where the event is going to be held but it will be a country from the Middle East.
Unclear Retention Rules
Possible venues for the auction are making rounds on media but IPL franchises are keen on knowing the Retention Rules.
BCCI is yet to announce a final decision regarding retention rules leading to anxiety among teams. Franchise owners are concerned about the delay as they will need sufficient time to strategize and prepare.
Anonymous sources from the BCCI said that the retention rules will be announced by the end of September. It will take around Two months for the franchises to plan. After the announcement of the rules, it is expected that the team owners might announce their players’ retention around November 15.

IPL Overseas Auctions
BCCI has long desired to host IPL auctions outside India which was materialized by holding the event in Dubai last year. Previously, London and Istanbul were considered for the event but it never worked. The successful occurrence of last year’s event signals for more such events outside India in future.
Ex-Indian Coaches To Be Part Of IPL Franchises
Some of the former coaches of indian National Cricket teams that worked under Rahul Dravid are likely to join different IPL franchises in the upcoming season.
Cricbuzz reported that Vikram Rathore, former batting coach, might join Rajasthan Royals replacing Trevor Penny. Trevor is going to join Barbados Royals in Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Former India Bowling Coach, Paras Mhambrey, is also said to be joining an IPL franchise although no official statement has been issued in this regard. Both the mentioned coaches were offered commentary contracts by different media outlets but they turned it down preferring Coaching roles.
Former Indian Seamer, Munaf Patel, and member of the 2011 World Cup winning team is also expected to join an IPL team in the upcoming season.
