Rohit And Kohli Slips Down In The ICC Rankings 2024

The ICC has revealed the latest rankings which saw players move up and down. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli slip down in the ICC rankings 2024.

Poor Bangladesh Series For Rohit and Kohli

Rohit Sharma and Virat were expected to perform well against the Bangladesh bowling attack. But both the games were difficult for the star batters.

In the second game of the series, Rohit scored 6 & 5 while kohli scored 6 & 17. Kohli didn’t review his LBW dismissal as the replay showed he had nicked the ball. Due to poor performances by the star batters, both have dropped in the ICC rankings. Rohit slipped from 5th to 10th and kohli from 7th to 12th respectively.

Pant And Jaiswal Move Up In ICC Rankings

Rohit and Virat dropped in rankings but Pant and Jaiswal moved up. Pant and Jaiswal had a good series against Bangladesh with the bat. Pant’s century helped him move 6th to 5th place while the young aggressive opener batter Jaiswal moved up a spot breaking into the top 5. It’s the best-ever rating for Jaiswal with 751 points. After scoring a century in Chennai, Shubman Gill moved up five spots from 19th to 14th.

Other Players’ Progress In ICC Rankings

Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand had an excellent series against Sri Lanka with the bat. He made a great leap moving up from 60th to 42nd position. Bangladeshi left-handed batter Najmul Hossain moved up 14 places reaching the 48th spot.

Bowlers Moving Up in ICC Rankings

Prabath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner, moved 5 places up reaching the 8th-ranked bowler in the world. New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel and Will O’Rouroke lept 10 points up each reaching 25th and 41st respectively.
